Samplers

Uncomfortable Records has decided in the course of things to release samplers of relatively unknown artists who'd like to get a bit of promotion.

Sampler #1

Title: Tuned to a Dismembered Channel

Deadline: closed and finalised.

Some track details for the sampler can be seen here. More information and artwork as soon as possible. This will be going to press early 2006 (Feb hopefully). All the tracks and artwork are finalized.

Sampler #2

Theme: esoteric / occult / ritual, preference for 'Demonic Forces'.

Genre: ambient. Dark ambient, drone ambient, black ambient, death industrial. Heavy, slow and dark. Nightmare music.

Track lengths: No more then 7 minutes unless you have an outstanding track

Deadline: 31st of March, 2006 (MP3 or Ogg submissions)

Send your track in MP3 or Ogg format to the below email addresses to be considered for inclusion on Sampler #2. If you are chosen (i.e: your track fits in with the theme and overall feel) you will need to provide a high quality copy of the track in 16bit or 24bit WAV format. Transfer of this can be negotiated.

Uncomfortable Records will listen to all submissions. But no one is promised a place on the CD.

Other stuff

Email general queries to info @ uncomfortablerecords.com but send all track submissions to uncomfortablerecords@gmail.com (assuming the track size is under 10 megs, otherwise email the first address and we can sort something out)..

Sampler Rules

The rules are as follows:

i... Unsigned artist (or signed with express permission of your label, your mum and dad and a bottle of scotch given to me)
ii.. No cookie-cutter music. i.e: no pop-music, avoid EBM unless its particularily cool.
iii. Genere is less important but there is a preference for industrial, noise, dark ambient, noise, et al.
iv.. Avoid politiks unless you are particularily clever.
v... Submissions do not necessarily mean inclusion on the sampler.
vi.. All submittees that get onto the sampler get a free copy of said sampler. Extra copies may be ordered once costs are worked out.
vii. Uncomfortable Records are given non-exclusive rights to the songs. You get to put them on albums, other compilations, movie soundtracks without me bitching. Infact I encourage it.
viii These rules may be revised at whim but wont ever get more restrictive.
ix.. Roman numerals are cool
x... If there are a large amount of very good submissions, I reserve the right to put out a double-disc release or do a Netlabel style release of the extra tracks.
xi.. Uncomfortable Records will endevour to send copies of the sampler to as many magazines and reviewing agencies as possible. The aim is to give the artists as much exposure as possible.
xii. Inclusion on a sampler does not give any guarantee of an album release by said artist, but it does not preclude it either.
xiii Uncomfortable Records reserves the right to sell copies of the sampler (post artist copies, post review copies sent out) at cost price in order to stop the better-half complaining about the cost of the venture.
xiv. Fourteen points is enough for now.
xv.. I lied about point xiv. Bribes are also accepted, if they are cool.
xvi. The release will be either a NetLabel release (full artwork) or a CDR (unless I can score good prices for real CDs) done by a local but professional duplication company. It will include a disc-booklet that will include (where viable) contact details for all artists included on the sampler.
xvii Inclusion on the sampler does not obligate the artist to Uncomfortable Records what so ever. Other label signage is welcomed and wished with luck. Songs remained copyright to the artist. Et al.

Submissions and queries should be send to uncomfortablerecords@gmail.com

Initial submissions are prefered in the form of medium quality MP3s or Ogg files. Length is prefered to be between 3 and 5 minutes. Nothing over 6 minutes without good bribes.

Thanks. And if you so desire, pass this on to anyone that may be interested.
